Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Inequalities and Mathematical Analysis (JIMA) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in academic publishing. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is considered a serious breach of publication ethics. The journal employs stringent measures to detect and address instances of plagiarism to ensure the originality and integrity of its published content.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the unethical act of using another individual’s ideas, processes, results, or words without appropriate acknowledgment. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Full Plagiarism: Reproducing previously published content without modifications or acknowledgment.
  • Partial Plagiarism: Combining content from multiple sources with extensive rephrasing without proper citations.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Republishing one’s prior work in whole or part without disclosure or proper referencing.

Plagiarism Detection and Prevention

To maintain ethical standards, JIMA follows a robust plagiarism detection process:

  1. Initial Screening: All submitted manuscripts undergo a similarity check using advanced plagiarism detection tools (e.g., iThenticate).
  2. Similarity Thresholds:
    • The total similarity index must not exceed 30%.
  3. Editorial Evaluation: If significant overlap is detected, the manuscript is reviewed by the editorial board for further action.
  4. Author Notification: Authors are informed if their manuscript exceeds the permissible similarity limits and are requested to revise and resubmit.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is identified at any stage (submission, review, or post-publication), the journal will take the following actions:

  1. During Submission or Review:

    • The manuscript will be returned to the author for immediate revision.
    • If the issue persists, the manuscript will be rejected.
  2. Post-Publication:

    • The article will be retracted and marked as a “Plagiarized Article” on the journal’s website.
    • The author’s institution will be notified.
    • The author may face a ban from submitting to JIMA for a period of 2 years.

Ethical Responsibility of Authors

Authors are required to:

  • Submit only original work.
  • Properly cite all sources and references.
  • Include a similarity report with their submission to verify originality.

Reporting Plagiarism

Concerns regarding plagiarism in published articles can be reported to the Editor-in-Chief. The editorial team will investigate all allegations and take appropriate actions in accordance with the journal’s policies.
